Thank you

Hello again,

Ok here are the general details of what we have planned so far, more planning still in the process but this covers the majority of the cruise. I would suggest bringing a cooler for snacks to keep you between lunch and dinner stops.  Please let me know if you are planning on going so we can have a good idea of how many cars are going for planning purposes.

Our Cruise Adventure will start from the rest stop just south of Wilsonville at 8:00 am on Sunday 9/12.

Day 1 - We will cruise down I-5 to Eugene and then pickup Hwy 58 to Oakridge where we will stop for lunch at the A&W Drive In.  After lunch we will continue on Hwy 58 to Hwy 97 turning off on Hwy 138 to head over to Crater Lake National Park (entrance fee $10.00). (http://www.nps.gov/crla/index.htm ) We will enter from the north entrance and cruise half way around the lake to the lodge area for a break before continuing on and exiting the south entrance and pickup Hwy 62 towards Klamath merging back onto Hwy 97 into Klamath Falls for the evening.

Day 2 – Stock your cooler since lunch could be a little later the normal.  Heading south from Klamath Falls at 8:00 am on Hwy 39 to the Lava Beds in the Tulelake area. (http://www.nps.gov/labe/index.htm ) Continue on through the Lava Beds coming out on the south end merging back onto Hwy 139.  Then take a more scenic route to Susanville, stopping in Susanville for lunch either at the Black Bear Diner or the Diamond Mountain Casino. Checking out some of the local stores in downtown Susanville before continuing on to Reno on Hwy 395.

Day 3 – Sleep in !! ;) ..  The morning is open at this time, we will be leaving for Lake Tahoe at 11:00 at this time (could be a little earlier as further plans are finalized).  We will head up Hwy 431 to Lake Tahoe stopping first at Incline Village.  At this time the details of what we have planned between the time we arrive at Incline Village until 5:15 when we need to be at the boat dock for the cruise on the MS Dixie.  I do need to know how many of you are going on the cruise on the MS Dixie (cost appx $75.00 per person for a 3 hour dinner/dance cruise includes a plated dinner) (http://www.zephyrcove.com/cruises/index.cfm ) since I have to sign a contract for the group rate and send a deposit in advance.  Please let me know as soon as you can concerning this part of the cruise.  We are considering some ideas to cruise around the lake with our cars, some may want to ride the tram, some may want to shop plus we need to have lunch also.  The boat cruise gets over at 9:00PM, then we will cruise back to Reno.

Day 4 – Sleep in again !! ;) .. The morning is open at this time again. Unsure of the time yet but we will be cruising down to Virginia City for the afternoon which will include a train ride, mine tour and museum tour of Virginia City.  (http://www.visitvirginiacitynv.com/index.aspx ) Cruise on back to Reno, the evening is open at this time.

Day 5 – Open at this time.  For those of you that want to go to the Air Races we are checking into prices.  Some might want to explore Reno on their own or with a group. Check out the car museum, or the gaming museum.  Some might want to cruise out to Fallon Air Base if we can set up a tour. This is basically a free day !! For the evening we are trying to locate a restaurant where we all can meet and have our last dinner in Reno.  We are also checking on what shows may be in Reno during the time we are there in case some of you may want to take in a show.

Day 6 – Begin our trip for home at 8:00AM. Head back up Hwy 395 to Susanville where we will stop and pickup some snacks to hold us over until we get to Shasta for lunch at the Black Bear Diner after driving through and visiting Lassen National Park. (http://www.nps.gov/lavo/index.htm ) and then continue after Shasta on I-5 to Medford where we will spend our last night.

Day 7 – Basically you can leave anytime you want and cruise by yourself up I-5  or cruise as a group stopping anywhere along the way to eat lunch before arriving back in Portland.  There is really nothing planned for the last day on the way back to Portland.

Well that is it in a nut shell basically, I hope that all of you will join us for this fun adventure (especially since most of the roads past Klamath Falls I have never been on until we get back to I-5) J  I do really need to know about the MS Dixie so I can finalize the contract and send them a deposit.  If you have any questions or suggestions please let me know. September is 8 months away but as we all know that time will go fast and it will be here before you know it. I am inviting all of the clubs in the Northwest to join us along with clubs in California, Nevada and Canada.  Will be an opportunity to meet fellow PT owners from all over.

Happy Cruisin
Thanks Rick, Jody, Rick, Millen and Carol

#16    This one is in 2011, 2011 tenth anniversary of PT Cruisin, ALL CLUBS ASKED TO ATTEND

Hey, Cruisers:

We have important news about our previously announced Spring Fever event...

OK, here's the deal: We all now it's harder than heck to get something like this together on short notice, and it took us so long to find a suitable venue that we plum ran outta time to plan stuff, order goodies and generally get our act together.  We know what you all expect of us - and we didn't want to go off half cocked.

So....we're gonna take a break, a hiatus, a respite, some time off...you get the idea.

But we have two things in mind - one pretty cool one that we think you'll like and one truly outstanding one (if you ask us, anyway) that is gonna knock your custom embroidered PT Cruiser sweat socks off!

Plan Numero Uno:  Keep the 6th of June open if you can and plan on joining us at Casa de Fruta (just like we said) for Monterey Bay PT Cruisers' 9th Birthday Party.  It will be fun, but low key with a chance to hang with all the fine folks who comprise the local club and all the finer folk who come from neighboring cities and counties.  We'll have cake and visit the shops at Casa de Fruta and if enough of you want to do it, we'll plan a cruise at the end of the day.

(If you already made plans to come in the evening before, I bet a few of us locals would be willing to get together for dinner in, say, San Juan Bautista on Saturday night.)

Even more cool - and way more important - we're calling on all the clubs to send at least a few of your members to this June 6th shindig to form up a steering committee for next year.  Yes! We have already grabbed a day on the calendar at Casa de Fruta for "The Gathering of the PT Cruiser Clans - Celebrating Ten Years of PT Cruising!"

Please mark your calendars for May 22nd, 2011 for this great event.  No fair saying, "Oh, I'm busy that day."  We're giving you almost a year to plan!  We want to make this the start of a region-wide annual PT Cruiser event to bring in the die-hard Cruiser fanatics from all over the West - or farther if we can.  (More on that later.)

There will be separate forum topic for each of these events and a Facebook page on the "Gathering". (I'll post a link shortly.)

Sorry for any inconvenience this change of plans may cause, but I swear we will make it up to you!

Yours truly,
The gang at Monterey Bay PT Cruisers
